The comedy in Roman Scandals might be of a very obvious nature with many lame facepalm one liners. But for a silly comedy it keeps on trying and trying one gag after the other and after a while won me over. There are two sequences that are great fun. One is a musical number where he in blackface sings a wonderful song while moving around a bunch of half-naked ladies. The other is the chariot racing stuff at the end which was fast paced and funny in a very Buster Keaton'esque way.

A little bit weird and forced, but an entertaining Cantor vehicle nonetheless.

Eddie Cantor was great, and this was the best of his films that I have seen.
