I was crying all the time. Let the slavery end! Wait a minute, what slavery?!

The story stands the test of time ... but the actual logistics of the series keep me from giving it a 100. An important piece of artistry in the late 70's. Very Impactful.

Loved it

Someone retold the Bible with Black slaves at the center instead of Jewish-Roman Jesus. I found it maudlin, designed to enrage, and obviously manipulative, therefore worthless as cinema.

Well worth a watch and one of the EPIC miniseries.

Showing its age.

Despite being seriously marred by sporadically questionable acting and a large handful of screenwriting atrocities, it remains effective due to the depth of its characters and the devotion to its themes, all portrayed within a single and solid narrative. The near-perfect pacing deserves a mention as well.
