Summary: It tells the story of a phoenix who falls to Earth in front of West’s car. West, playing a version of himself, tried to introduce her to a world that mystified her, and was mystified by her.
the point isn't to be some deep fucking masterpiece. It's Kanye doing what he does best, having a good time and making good music. There's nothing to "get." This is just a movie about a phoenix who flies to earth that Kanye made in his spare time.
The music is absolutely Incredible. Kanye's "Twisted Fantasy" is easily one the most well-produced albums ever released. If only this film was equally as well-written, paced and directed. Overall, this 35-minute music video is acceptable, but should've been better.
An overwrought, incomprehensible short film that tries to pass itself off as 'art', I know that everyone else lets it go because of the music, but as someone who thought "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was really overrated this was just unbearable. Some of the segments are kind of enjoyable, but for the most part this is just a boring, utterly directionless mess celebrating the point in his career where Kanye couldn't get his head out of his own ass.
Its imaginative and the music sounds great. Probably comes down to how much you like music videos. Fairly decent way to spend half an hour. Hard to hate on what was my favorite album of 2010.
I have no idea what half of this meant, but I couldn't take my eyes - or ears - off it for even a split second. Beautiful, haunting, vulnerable and monstrous - and feautering several teasers from his masterful "Twisted Fantasy"-album, Kanye's shortfilm left me with more memorable scenarios and impressions than most cinematic releases of 2010.
