Not earth-shattering, but an 80s comedy with some funny parts and some interesting set pieces.

Gregory Hines is a solid comedic actor and he and Crystal have some funny moments in this. If the action parts could be taken more seriously (as in Midnight Run), this could have been really good. Jimmy Smits was not a very good villain either.

This movie is nothing special and it goes on for to long. I only laughed at one joke. The villain is very boring in this movie.

Crystal and Hines are partners on the Chicago police force, rather bantam-cockish for that line of work -- but not for their more earnest vocation as a fast-patter comedy team. Loosey-goosiness is the order of the day; and suspense, when wanted, is impossible to summon. Crystal gets to do several vocal impressions, including Oliver Hardy. Hyams gets to do one of his wilder-than-William-Friedkin chase sequences: two cars on the el track. Hines does not get to dance.

Hines and Crystal have legitimate chemistry, there is some good humor and snappy dialogue, and like any action comedy worth its salt, everything is either action or comedy...no sappy melodrama or taking oneself too seriously here, thank God. It's rather predictable and by the book, but executed about as well as it can be. Not quite good, but very entertaining.

Not bad.

Probably the best comedy/action/buddy/cop film starring a dancer and a comedian ever made. That doesn't mean it's a great film. It is a good film. It is worth renting. I love the bit with the "unmarked" police car.

Pretty good mainstream comedy/cop-movie. Very MASH-like atmosphere. Moderately entertaining, but don't strain yourself to see it

Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines, the two most bizarre action stars in movie history, become partners in this buddy-cop trash. It will leave you begging for the likes of Van Damme.
