Like many others I pretty well had it set in my mind that either one of two characters was going to be involved in the inevitable plot twist, and I was right, but it wasn't poorly done. In fact, nothing in the movie was poorly done. It was another inoffensive viewing experience, good for what it was but not something I'll seek out again. It's certainly worth seeing in theatres, though. Forewarned though, if you are jumpy (like I am) this movie will pray on you. Many jumpy moments to be found.

It moves along at a brisk clip and (even phoning it in) Denzel is always entertaining to watch, but this is real, real generic Thriller 101 stuff. The narrative, characters, "twists," and action scenes here are all super-basic stuff you've seen a million times before (hell, probably a few hundred times in the TV show 24 alone). The best way to describe this movie is as irrelevant - by 2015, it will be forgotten as if it had never existed.

This megawatt cast has been assembled to deliver by-the-numbers action and story that is only elevated by the fact that we have these actors that are far better than the material would have you believe. I will attest I didn’t have a bad time at the film. It’s adequately shot, very violent, gritty, just not for any particularly engaging reason.

Is it just me, or has Denzel been lukewarm for the last couple of years? This was somewhat of an improvement for Reynolds, but he still doesn't have the chops to be a main character. Kinnaman continues to beef up his US release roster....

Brisk, smooth, chunky action in the Tony Scott vein. Efficient and involving; Denzel's super-authoritative, as always, and the story hums along nicely, if predictably. It would have worked better and been more crackling, though, if they hadn't portrayed Reynolds' character as so wide-eyed--and if the whole thing hadn't been so oddly bloodless.

Maybe I'm being too easy on this but it was fun. It does really nothing original, and I actually saw the plot twist coming but by that point I was already havin' a good time. Denzel is always awesome, Reynolds was good too. Solid cast all around, and it was pretty thrilling. A movie doesn't have to be original, it just has to do it well, and this moved along at a good pace.

Essentially, this South Africa-based thriller seems to pursue the expressionism of Tony Scott's latest films, but achieves mostly average results: Denzel is always good to watch, even in an easy role for him to play, and Reynolds, this is kind of surprising, embodies with compromise a naive but brave safe house keeper that is suddenly trapped in a net of constant betrayal -- here, it kind of resembles Enemy of the state. As a whole, just the basic post-Bourne CIA action movie.

The performances were good, but the opening is so strong that the rest of this mediocre film let's you down slowly. Plus they put a whole lot of weight on the fact that corruption in the CIA, in a fictional film, is somehow going to resonate with the viewer.

Well, Denzel plays arrogant, bad asses really well, especially when he's a crook. Ryan plays fragile men rather well. I'm kind of tired of seeing them in such roles, but they are good actors, so this film might please lots of people. I enjoyed it, but felt that it missed something to make it as good as "Gangster."

My biggest problem was the predictability of the villain's identity. Is it too much to ask, that in one out of a hundred films, we occasionally get to be surprised by finding out who the villain is? I don't think so. Competently put together, Reynolds and Washington are two actors I like, fairly engaging plot... A pretty entertaining film, which let me down a little.

It's painfully predictable and thin, but I suppose it's also a perfectly entertaining action flick. Espinosa's style is a little too "Tony Scott-esq" for my liking, but it works well enough during the action, even if after two hours of hyper-editing and unrelenting shaky-camery, you'll have a headache! The bolted on romantic sub-plot is needless and despite his best efforts Reynolds never convinces as a CIA agent. Meh! I didn't hate it...
