If you like Westerns more than War, be sure to try this all-male "Stagecoach" in a tank: a superb action film, as well as great WW II proletarian propaganda, written by the Commie Lawson, directed by the more socially conscious Korda brother, and starring the great liberal Bogart at the top of his form. Great support from Naish, Bennett and especially Ingram, and Rudolph Mate--Dreyer's poet of the camera--makes Sand a major character here, also doing justice to Water in its cameo appearance.

Really good. I loved the shot of the sand dunes looking like running water when Hoyt is marching back to the British lines.

Probably one of the few classics I'd like to see remade; not that they could ever duplicate Bogey, but it's still a great concept for a war movie. This is great stuff, too bad that shitpile starring Matthew McConaughey or whatever has the same name. Interesting that this was originally planned as a propaganda piece...

Not bad, but a war time propaganda film. Bogart is solid as always.

Propganda for a cause that's over always seems a little stale, but this is a pretty good action pic as well.

Sure, it's wartime propaganda. But it's also a pretty good war movie.

one of the top WWII films that were actually filmed during the war. i wasn't overly impressed with any of the actors, but i'll tell you i simply couldn't peel my eyes away. if your into bogey don't miss out on this one, even if you're not don't be afraid to go out of your way to see it.

A small group of soldiers consisting of a tank crew and various allies they pick up along the way make their way across the Sahara in the wake of Rommel's advance. Saraha maintains a tense plot as the protagonists have to conserve water and fuel while a much larger German army threatens their retreat and they find themselves facing off against greater odds. Sahara is a classic that takes a stand against prejudice, especially against the Nazi mindset of ethnic cleansing of the time.

A classy thirsty movie with Humphrey Bogart playing with the Nazis out in the desert. Sahara (1943) doesn't stress with the action, or go overboard with the story to impress. It's just the vibe of it which makes it so damn great!

Beautifully done WWII actioner doesn’t waste a minute propelling the narrative efficiently into its duelling plot lines of survival horror and siege, with Bogart in terrific form as the effortlessly authoritative leader. Gives just enough information about its cast of characters to make the viewer care once tragedy strikes, without ever succumbing to mawkish, clichéd sentiment; ditto its sometimes blatantly propagandistic asides. Just good, old fashioned (and quietly stirring) entertainment.

This film is war as rousing adventure, and it works extremely well in that mode. There's a real emphasis on cross-National understanding and cooperation, painting a picture of everyone joining together to stamp out tyranny. The film takes time out to let each character describe what his home life is like and why they're fighting.
