I don't have much affection for Biblical epics. It's kind of fun as a fairy tale, but most of its entertainment value is derived from its pure corniness. Hammy acting and terrible dialogue. Almost every line is overwritten, leaden with metaphor and mannered speech, as if everyone from that period just spilled proverbs out of their silly faces all day long. Garish costumes and sets that look cheap as hell. Bad special effects and some shoddy editing. Watchable as a lark, but hardly my cup of tea.

Silly and campy but immensely enjoyable DeMille epic; LaMarr and Mature are never any better than adequate in the leads (and contribute several cringeworthy scenes) but ever reliable Sanders steals the film with a quietly dignified performance in support. Dated effects add to the hokiness of the film, though climactic temple collapse is still quite spectacular by any standard.

Very silly, but entertaining. May be even better with the sound off.

Some truly spectacular effects, action scenes -- also the expected naivete, hokey sequences.

Underwatched epic film right here. I first saw this when I was eight years old and the story was so adventurous that I had to buy it the first chance I got (15 years later). Who says bible stories can't be great? I'm sure people in my generation didn't realize that Angela Landsbury was a very attractive/classy leading lady once upon a top - and not an old detective solving murders.
