Summary: Retd. Station Master Raghavan Nair's two sons, Prabhakaran (Sreenivasan) and Prakashan (Jayaram) belong to opposing political parties. Prabhakaran is a communist, whilst Prakashan is a right-winger. They quibble all the time over political issues, and although Raghavan Nair is initially impressed by what he assumes to be his sons' political knowledge and leadership capabilities, soon it turns to despair and anger, when he sees his family suffer in his sons' sibling rivalry. One of the best political satires in Malayalam cinema, 'Sandesham' lampoons political parties, concepts and ideologies, as they exist in Kerala. A movie with a message, 'Sandesham' drives home the truth that when it comes to reforms, self comes first, family later, and your country after that.
