In some ways this isn't all that different from a myriad of other war films. Wide shots, battle scenes, marching and internal dissent. What really makes this stand out is the unique African perspective. The way the issues are framed, the various responses of the different tribes, and the overall tone are just a little different from what they would be from even the most sympathetic western production and make some interesting contrasts with expectations.
