The thought of mental illness really jumps at you, but yes, this is also a reflection of a certain relatable mood or state of mind. I think this is a hell of a first short film, because it dives head-in to the cinematic language, and isn't just speechless but defies verbal summation.

Reminds me of Scorcese's short about shaving. Goes from quirkily weird to maniac and disturbing in a few well-devised jolts. A smart (and wonderfully shot) debut.

Though deceptively minor, Akerman's neat delight functions at a higher rate than might seem immediately clear. With breathtaking ease, Akerman twists her inconsequential situational sketch into something multi-faceted: an acknowledgement-cum-celebration-cum-denigration of its Akerman-played teen's youthful abandon and inherent naiveté. Its with engrossing boisterousness that she witnesses a virtual caffeine high, yet she's mature enough to observe the inevitable comedown. Enticing.
