From the very first shot, I felt completely absorbed by Belmonte's suffocating world of despair, rage and critical acts of change. His characters don't live or even survive with dignity -- the camera is relentlessly following their misery. They are all actually struggling with themselves, and all they can do is get drunk, get high and wait for something to happen. The thing is, nothing happens. There is no such thing as miracle.
