The sequences of the ships, the refueling at sea, and inside the u-boat are the great strength here. The acting is pretty bad, especially the female lead. Her final scene of dialog is one of the worst in recent memory. Despite the poor acting, the film ends up being pretty enjoyable overall due the Ford's keen eye and his command of pacing.
