Not one of Bergman's best. It still as some of the emotional content of his best, such as the third story with the elevator, but not as much nor his philosophical ideas, making it a lesser if still viewable film in comparison.

Wonderful, just wonderful. The elevator bit is the high note, but there are numerous moments throughout that stand out to me, even if the disjointed format lacks appeal.

Involving, mystical and robust; a wonderful early Bergman. The elevator-sequence (with Eva Dahlbeck and Gunnar Björnstrand in confrontation) is - at the same time - deeply tragic, sore, beautiful and funny.

A pretty good early Bergman film. Rather light, but entertaining. Three sisters-in-law share stories about their husbands. Each has something to offer the viewer. The first is the most typically Bergman, and contains a bit of his insight. The second is the least interesting, but does feature a beautifully shot dance sequence and some other nice cinematic touches. The third is the most rewarding, a wonderfully warm and comic story. Very nice.

I was ready to give this a crappy rating up until the elevator scene; with humour, the puzzle started to fit into place -- the ending resolving the allusion. Wise for an early Bergman, but the unnecessarily stylised beginning conveys a lack of efficiency that was later honed and perfected.
