"The film's tossed-off look and clunky editorial construction are still secondary to the sheer silliness of its story." - Nick Schager

The problem is not Nic Cage -- really. He's a campy actor, we just have to live with this and expect he brings some irony into his roles. Here is the thing: this is a serious film about a New Orleans-based justice organization of angry men willing to clean the city by killing the bad guys. If Tony Scott had directed it, I would've probably loved the film. Donaldson squeezes, but just can't get any thrill or decent surprise from the plot. That's too bad.

Another movie set in New Orleans, of course Cage has to play in it. There's is so much hate for Cage, I believe the reviews are very biased. I actually quite enjoyed it, and yes, the first 10 minutes or so are horrible actingwise, but once the story start picking up its pace, it is very entertaining.

The premise keeps getting more and more ridiculous and unrealistic. Nicolas Cage is awesome as always though.

what a disaster, a school teacher behaves all of a sudden like a well-trained detective. watch a super hero movie surely it's better. Nicolas cage keeps getting worse & worse in the acting department.

This is a very well done variation of the revenge genre. Excellent intensity, and with plot twists that actually make sense. Despite the somewhat far-fetched premise of the film the characters all seem believable and lifelike. Worth seeing.

More further you'll go with the story, worse it'll be. I've never expected anything good from Nicolas Cage, but I was interested this because of Jennifer Carpenter (wife of Dexter) and specially January Jones. Unfortunately girls' got not much of screen time. I was pleased with the part of January. Thin character, but nice performance.

Just... no. Cage is (almost) never convincing as a regular, decent guy - and this is no exception. After the completely unbelievable twist, Cage suddenly becomes a vengeful expert detective - at which points he (of course) excels. But still: just... no.
