Could have been better if it'd featured Brosnan leaping out of progressively smaller animals.

Had been putting off watching this as I'm a huge fan of Neeson and for the most part the polar opposite of Brosnan. The acting was fine after all albeit some dodgy accents. The opening shots are reminiscent of 'McCabe & Mrs Miller' which a long with the opening chase are the strongest aspects of the film. As it unravels, you have deja vu as its nothing you haven't seen before. Imperfect western that is at least watchable.

A collage of stunning scenery and photography with a beautifully wrenching story of regret and vengeance. The two stars are perfect in their roles: ambiguous characters treating lives like tools. Trading theirs for bullets. Learning in the end that some things aren't worth holding on to; because some things you can't.

A nice surprise, "Seraphim Falls" is not without its flaws; Neeson's accent is hopeless, Huston is wasted in weird & unnessacery role, & the philosophical turn the movie takes in last 20 minutes is peculiar, & I'm not sure if I liked that or loathed it. That said the opening sequence & chase is nothing short of brilliant, and despite his accent Neeson is very charasmatic, even if he's upstaged Brosnan, who frankly is in majestic form & sporting a fucking awesome beard. Flawed, but so watchable.

"If not nearly as multi-layered and lyrical as last year's The Proposition, Seraphim Falls still proves to be something in short supply these days: a sturdy, straight-ahead, less-talk, more-action Western." - Nick Schager

Its not a typical western, its more about survival and the odds at which a man can achieve it if hes determined enough. It's actually shocking how much I enjoyed pierce brosnan in this movie, I usually don't like him, but he held the movie together incredibly well. and Liam neesons character is exacting, cruel and without mercy, its quite the movie from beginning to end. Dont pass this up, its worth a watch.

The ending of this movie is a big letdown. I don't believe the two main characters would act the way that they do at the very end of the film. I must say that the performances are good in this film.

I rarely say this, but I found this film boring. No tension, no reason to give a flying fuck about any of the characters; most of the script seems to be in the last act, with the majority of the running time consumed by a boring chase. Artless direction, pretty flat performances, overall not much fun.

What starts off as a suspenseful thriller set in the post Civil War western US, ends up a philosophical head scratcher. The unexpected turn isn't terrible, but it probably would have worked better if it had followed through on its original path. However, I applaud the effort to stretch beyond its boundaries. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well as it should have.

Marvelous western, plays out the initial plot with the simplistic nature of Ford and the violence of Peckinpah (sans the slo-mo), but von Ancken seems to be one of the few who realises how far a western can stretch, and the movie veers into a bizarre "Greed"-meets-"El Topo" ending, to very good effect. Leave your preconceptions at the door.

You would think with the principal characters this would be amazing (a la The Proposition). But then you remember that both are suppressing their accents (poorly) to fit into the time and place, and it's hard to take them seriously. The film really lags in its first 45 minutes, which makes it difficult to sit through to the end.
