A satisfying first half that's consistently funny, and then a second half that - like Steamboat Bill, Jr.'s - is a triumph of escalating physical stunts and bizarre gags (love the turtle). I was going to give it a score in the 90s when I'd finished, and then I remembered... those damned racist jokes. Why the hell are they there? The mirror gag isn't that offensive, but what about when he dismisses the black woman? All things considered though, a fantastic film.

Not quite Keaton's best; quite frankly other than the last 15 minutes it's hardly worth watching (that 15 minutes, though, is fucking amazing).

while i appreciated it while it was going, it's a fairly unmemorable outing for keaton. there are far better keaton movies out there, but this isn't exactly a bad place to start.

The first half is amusing, but the second half is truly hilarious. The few racist gags were disappointing, it feels like Keaton should have been above that kind of crap. Oh well, it's not like it ruined the film or anything.

It took me a few minutes to warm up to this one but I ended up loving it. I think Keaton's humor works better when he's playing a clumsier, more buffoonish character, but the absolutely phenomenal stunt work and hilarious gags in the last half really sold me here. As with every other Keaton film I've seen, by the end I was smiling ear to ear.

Run, Buster, run! Long build-up wasn't very funny. Most jokes in the first half I found amusing were presented in inter-titles. In the second half there is one of the greatest chase sequences Buster or any other comic ever did. Film offers thin social commentary on woman, who would marry into money. Few racial jokes might be offensive for some. Still, this is a good silent comedy.

A fairly basic and plot-bound Keaton (he didn't want to make it, but gave it his all nonetheless). Contains one of the great metaphoric comedy setpieces of movie history as Buster races ahead of an ever-expanding boulder slide.

Except for a few mildly racist bits, this is pretty amusing. Mostly good gags, some daring stunts, and of course hapless, lovable Keaton at the center of it. Not terribly ground-breaking or complex, but quite entertaining. I even laughed out loud (something that rarely happens when watching a comedy by yourself) at the window display of broken clocks.

There are two distinct halves here. The first part is a light romantic comedy that relies on plot and situational humor, but there's a point when it turns to stunt-heavy gags connected by a thin, drawn out thread in the form of a prolonged and unconventional chase sequence. Despite its overall thematic inconsistency, the film is directed with a smooth pace and visual finesse. There are plenty of fantastic scenes to make it worth watching, I just didn't fall in love with the characters or story.
