The Thin Man continues to get thinner and thinner as the series continues. Further and further from the comedy we love in the first two

has a more liberal take on the laughs than the first two the result is a more entertaining but less intelligent movie.

The series is showing its age, but it remains a fun time overall. The action and dialogue limp along here in comparison to the first two films, which means that even at 96 minutes, the time seems to pass slowly. Loy and Powell still manage to squeeze some nice moments out, and van Dyke has an excellent edit from the park bench to the martini shaker early in the film.

Progressing through my copy of The Thin Man set, Shadow of the Thin Man is the 4th movie in the set and has held steady through the set. I loved the duo of William Powell and Myrna Loy and who could forget about Asta? Donna Reed also starred in The Shadow of the Thin Man. The more I watch The Thin Man, the more I want to see other classic detective or "whodunit" movies.

It's a thin man film, so of course it'll be fun thanks to the rapport between Powell and Loy. It's not as good as it's predecessors, but enjoyable enough.

Not many films maintain themselves past 3 movies and keep being cool and funny without weakening the plot. William Powell continues to charm.

A few good laughs at the wrestling match--along with the usual coterie of one-liners ("They're very strict at this track," "What a screwy-looking hat!"). Myrna maintains her matchless mixture of cool elegance and distinctive daffiness throughout (sort of like Goldie Hawn meets Grace Kelly). And she does indeed wear some funny-looking hats in this one.
