Quite similar to the first one. Good acting, great directing and a clever script that tries a bit too hard.

Honestly, it was dissappointing to see 'Holmes' fall from grace. I really enjoyed the original. This movie instead tries too hard. Holmes is too eccentric, the plot is a little overly dramatic and the special effects? Let me just say: WTF Forest Run. 'Nuff said.

An odd combination of mishmash story with ingenious scenes stitched together with boring transitions. Chemistry between two was touching and though Noomi Rapace's part was pretty non-productive, I loved the way she acted with her face and eyes.

Holmes and Watson work best when they're bickering and arguing, and yet the action is piled on in the sequel, which isn't really the APPEAL of Sherlock Holmes, but okay. It's a strung together pile of set pieces and Holmes is turned a little too James Bond-y in comparison to the first one, and plot points are sometimes vague. But it's more than the sum of its parts, Moriarty is great, what comedy there is is fun, and I liked it, albeit not as much as the first. Score is not a grade.

The return of Holmes is a welcome one, what with Ritchie using more of his unique takes on the character that worked so well before. Harris is a compelling and restrained Moriarty, the action and camera tricks are still fun, and the humor remains. This only falls short by way of its plot, which is a little more muddling and, frankly, less interesting than the first's.

The banter, the action, the bromance, and Ritchie slow-mo are all a lot of fun, but then things get a little hazy. There is little mystery here, and the absolutely schizophrenic pace is tiring. While its predecessor had a definite destination it was headed to, AGoS is all over the place. RDJs over-the-top portrayal of every character, as of late, is one of diminishing returns. Yes, he is wildly entertaining, but there comes a point where my eyes begin to roll.

A fun little jaunt through 19th century Europe, the film is best when it focuses on its characters, especially as they uncover the trail leading them to Moriarty. However, the overall mystery is kept to a minimum, which weakens the proceedings, as does the incessant slow motion employed by Ritchie. But Downey is likable enough to keep the final evaluation just positive.

not nearly as good as the first RDJ and jude law holmes movie, even though this one has more depiction of the mind of shelock holmes which the previous installment was lacking. i've never really been too much of a fan of moriarty so it's not much of a surprise that this one doesn't match up to the first.

Well, this is easy. You either like Sherlock Holmes, or you don't, you either like Robert Downey Jr, or you don't, and you either like Guy Ritchie, or you don't. I will say, however, that I always enjoy these types of movies. They remind me of Pirates of the Caribbean, in the sense that they're highly entertaining, and don't take themselves too seriously. That, and both Robert Downey Jr and Johnny Depp give very personable and quirky performances. This is your basic 'fun' movie.

Somewhat enjoyable for the most part, but in the end a little too much of everything: stylised slow-motion, computerised editing, absurd escapes, jauntily bombastic soundtrack, close-to-ham acting, repressed sexuality. While each of these elements was present in the first movie, and fairly successfully, it seemed as though each had been intensified and magnified in this sequel. The result may be impressive in some ways, but does start to wear more than a little thin.

The action scenes? A lot of fun. The performances? Very charismatic (although Jared Harris doesn't quite match up to last film's Mark Strong as the villain). The plot? A real mess! There isn't really even the pretense of a mystery here, which is kind of a shame for a movie called Sherlock Holmes. Still, it's an amusing enough time waster.

Keep digging, Guy Ritchie. Maybe you'll find something if you keep trying. We're all hoping that maybe, just maybe, you'll bump into Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's coffin in order to come up with something that resembled the original work at all. With any luck, and if there's a God, Sir Arthur had already planned for this and left a nice bomb in his casket that'll go off the moment it you find it.

While the action and humor were brought back well from the first film, I can't say the same for the story. It's not bad, but it's not nearly as fun or interesting story-wise as the first. Added to the fact that it's a bit too long and some of the deductions are too ridiculous to believe I can't say I'm jonesing to watch this again. Not to mention the added ending which was absurd even by the standards that this movie's world has set up.

Iron Man circa 1891. They forgot to add a mystery, detective work or even a twist. At least the first one had a plot that kept you guessing and trying to figure out how it was all done. This has none of that. Basically they were bumping up WW1 by a few years. Jared Harris was good as Moriarty; so well cast in fact he sticks out like the only man in a crowd prepared for a sudden down pour with a raised umbrella. The slow motion was also less annoying here but less annoying does not a movie make.

Same formula, new tweaks, better movie. Ritchie still does some pointless stylistic trickery - the forest escape had me wishing for a more standard approach - but he also brings in some much better villains and makes fewer mistakes.
