I was really really disappointed by this sequel. It lacks in almost everything compared to the first one. Story, action, fun... Even Downey Jr. and Law couldn't resque Game of Shadows. It was annoying, really. Ritchie should have stopped after the awesome first part.

The source material is closer to John McTiernan than Arthur Conan-Doyle, but this is just a great wise-cracking buddy movie. The forest set-piece is pretty amazing too.

Even worse than the first one. Can Hollywood please stop raping this classic.

I've never read a single Holmes story, but I've seen a bunch of the adaptations, and read other Post-Victorian lit. Anyway, I treat this series as the high concept summer movie(s) its supposed to be. Some one-liners, some set-pieces, a decent enough story, some interesting camerawork, and I'm fairly happy.

The excellent cast (although some should and could have been given a lot more to do) and engaging dialog keep you entertained, but good chemistry and bromance can only get you so far. This has a serious lack of mystery or tension, unless Holmes spoonfeeding you explanations counts. Let's just hope Ritchie hurries up with the finale, I'd really like to see him return to form, or RockNRolla, whichever comes first.

On par with the first, but there is nothing new, just more of the same. They both are solid movies, but neither really break out and become great. It has this weird thing where it goes from fast to slow (and I'm not talking about the slow motion). It goes from an action scene, to a slow dialogue scene, and it just feels awkward. There are some cool action set pieces, and some witty dialogue, so it's worth a watch, but nothing very memorable. I did like parts of the soundtrack though.

An interesting take on Sherlock Holmes. Didn't see enough of Kelly Reilly who is quite hot.

Compared to the first film, this one is the illegitimate son raised in the basement, hopped up on double espressos, dressed like a hooker and dropped off in Time Square New Year's Eve. BTW, I miss detective movies where they actually detected something.

Honestly, it was dissappointing to see 'Holmes' fall from grace. I really enjoyed the original. This movie instead tries too hard. Holmes is too eccentric, the plot is a little overly dramatic and the special effects? Let me just say: WTF Forest Run. 'Nuff said.

SH2 wants to be too clever and overreaches. It could have been more than decent - featuring the likes of Fry, Downey Jr, Marsan... but it will go down as a Fail instead.
