Lee as Holmes and Macnee as Watson. SOLD. Not everything in this movie works -- the writing staff hit the usual stumbling block of having difficulty creating a Sherlock who's smarter than they are -- and, at three hours, it *is* a bit long. However, this is one of the rare films that actually gets better as it goes along. Fairchild, as the eponymous lady who spends the film trying to loosen Holmes's underwear, has the best role of her entire career
