so this is basically a story about a boat going across the atlantic, every character ends up being a bystander, none of them developed enough to make a difference, none of them get enough time to be very memorable. it has no point and when the boat gets to it's destination all the passengers leave and you don't care, even the last line of the movie is a testament to that: "what has all this to do with us? nothing."

Tried to tackle too many issues and didn't succeed with any of them.

Some good acting in this pretentious, plodding version of a Katherine Anne Porter novel.
