The only part I didn't like was the lengthy "Broadway Melody" ballet. I loved the "crazy veil" section of it, but 13 minutes of song and dance without any narrative development is just too much. But for the rest of the movie, I was grinning with glee. The gorgeous Technicolor is stunning on DVD.

The set-up to the songs feels forced at times, some scenes drag on way too long, and the movie is plain silly, but I still ended up liking it. The musical numbers are catchy and Gene Kelly is a beast. This is a movie I can't imagine anyone downright hating. The movie is so charming and is one of the most enjoyable movie I've seen in recent memory. That Singin' in the Rain scene is one of the best scenes in movies ever.

A ton of fun, and with some absolutely dazzling sequences. But it does get tedious here and there.

Wow, I don't usually care for musicals. A little too fancy-free for me. Impromptu song-and-and-dance does not jive well with reality or even storytelling if you ask me. But you could not ask for a more a magical musical in a lifetime than this. The dance number where the guy beats himself up pre-dates and nearly beats Jim Carrey in physical comedy. The title song sequence is everything you have heard it to be. It seems like the meaning of cinema.

I like Fred Astaire. I like musicals to be musicals, not all this meta bollocks. It's the simplicity that they should have that gives them their charm. Contrived. Annoying. Overrated. It's why I dislike Shawshank and their brethren; it's got no personality of its own; made for market.

Singin' in the Rain is probably the best movie about movies. It's one of the all time greatest musicals and it's actually really funny to boot. Gene Kelly and his two costars put on great performances with great song and dance routines. It's just an excellent movie that really should be adored by everybody.

Absolutely amazing film. Everything about it is stunning and delightful; the singing, the dancing, the acting, the cinematography. It's just top-notch. Finding a flaw in this film is like finding a spelling error in a dictionary.

I'd say the greatest musical. Jean Hagen is a hoot--and the big finale with Cyd Charisse is a delight (jet engines and all). Then there's Donald O'Connor dancing on the ceiling and Gene Kelly dancing through milk...I didn't think I was going to like it, but I did. I thought it was great!
