Summary: "Slipstream" is a noir-comedy about an actor and would-be screenwriter, who at the very moment of his meeting with Fate, comes to discover that life is random and fortune is sightless as he is thrown into a vortex where time, dreams, and reality collide in an increasingly whirling slipstream. The film will be a complex, surreal and dreamlike tale of one man's journey. (imdb)
"Blaring its pretense to Lynch-ness, Slipstream crumbles under the weight of Hopkins's self-indulgence, yet there is some measure of sincerity to this senseless upchuck." - Ed Gonzalez
"There is much to actively experience here, but unfortunately it all feels rather whimsical, and more like an old man on a light, experimental mood that felt like exploring memories while poking fun at all of this endlessly serious movie-making stuff. This movie is the equivalent of a mental fugue attached to the funny bone, but not to a heart and soul. It's an interesting watch, but for a warmer, deeper instance of this sort of thing, I recommend Providence."
Very unique concept. I really enjoyed the film for what it was. It played much more like a music video, many scenes and angles cut together with unique color grading. I really liked it.
Anthony Hopkins should stick to acting. This was a poor attempt to do what only Mel Gibson has done so far. The movie made no sense at all and even if you like movies like that it was just terrible in every way! Keep away from this "movie" What can you expect when a 70 year old actor decides to write a movie starring himself.. on top of it all his writing his own movie in the film as well... LOL
