Summary: In a series of interlocking tales of high stakes and low lifes, Mob boss Primo Sparazza has taken out a hefty contract on Buddy "Aces" Israel (Piven) -- a sleazy magician who has agreed to turn states evidence against the Vegas mob. The FBI, sensing a chance to use this small-time con to bring down big-target Sparazza, places Aces into protective custody under the supervision of two agents (Reynolds and Liotta) dispatched to Aces' Lake Tahoe hideout. Interesting story told well through the use of good editing, soundtrack and destruction. Not the best action movie but entertaining enough to recommend outside of the theatres.

Mistake - When Hugo is shot by Zoot, a spatter of blood comes from the exit wound, hitting the wall. When Zoot puts on Hugo's jacket, however, there is no bullet hole in the back of it when the bullet left.

The only surprise in this film when I recognised Matthew Fox (although initially I thought it was Bill Pullman looking a little like he did in Surveillance). I thought too many characters were brought on at the start; I lost interest in trying to keep track of them all. It goes for a Snatch-style crossing of paths but falls way short of pulling it off. The ending was completely pointless.

A great script that's hard to follow at times. Carnahan pulls unexpectedly incredible performances out of Reynolds and Keys. I wish the characters were developed more and it takes itself a little too seriously, but that might be part of the point. Also, Jeremy Piven FINALLY plays a different character.

The morality of this film makes no sense. It is just to kill both father and child because...other men conspired to preserve them? The only good thing in this movie was the messy action scenes. Every time a gun is fired someone dies.
