The action in this latest installment will not disappoint, just as in the previous two Spider-Man movies. The story was predictable, and maybe it's just me, but I liked the "bad", "black" Spider-Man better than the "real" Spider-Man (not the bad Peter Parker though, who was just a presumptuous twit). Spider-Man shouldn't be opposed to killing the bad guys, nor should he forgive criminals, even if they have sympathetic motives.

Peter Parker/Spidey acquires a suit that turns him into a cokehead in what's arguably the pick of the trilogy (although that's not saying much). The characters are now fully-developed, leaving room for lots of sub-plots to keep the action moving. I never understood the fuss about the previous two instalments: average, cheesy summer blockbusters, nothing more, so wasn't offended by the faster, more chaotic piece here. Somewhere mixed-up amongst the three there's a really good movie.

This film just doesn't quite work. While there is plenty of good action, the plot is as thin can be. It certainly lacks the charm of its two predecessors, but also lacks the simple and effective plot structuring and character development. There is just too much going on, and there's too many villians, who back stories are too shallow. The multiple villians could have worked, but unfortunately Raimi wastes screen time on silly songs and unfunny comedy, rather than character development or plot.
