I liked this film a lot. So many very unique ideas twisted into a world where anything is possible. Only an animator of Miyazaki's caliber could bring such an idea to life. That, and this world doesn't end at any point like with all other anime.

Love ghibli. Maybe their best movie.

A beautiful parable on the perils of growing up. While it occasionally feels like a straight-forward fantasy quest (a complaint I had with a similar film, Coraline), I was impressed by what it did with the final act -- or rather, what it didn't do. The creatures and characters lift the story above whatever trappings it falls into. The film made me feel the way I always felt I was supposed to react to Fantasia (which bored me as a kid). Truly marvellous, if only it had existed when I was younger.

Soaring, pulsing, animated!

Beautiful and wildly imaginative animation, that in terms of a european audience is helped enormously by the fact that the building stones of its imagination is routed in an alien culture. It will be spectacular for kids, but some adults might catch on to the fact, that they don't speak the local lingo.
