pretty run-of-the-mill giallo. at this point soavi was mostly just emulating his maestro, and not all that well. the creativity and intricacy of the kills pales in comparison to Argento's very similar Opera, though the plot and tension was perhaps a bit more coherent.

Stylistic 80's slasher with sureal touches by the great Michele Soavi.

Pretty much a standard slasher - despite being an Italian film, the tone is far closer to the American genre rather than Italy's own giallos, although Dario Argento's influence is rife - but its style and briskness puts up higher in the pecking order of this sub-genre and as a film it is worth remembering and treasuring, something gory, drenched in the 1980s and never letting its emptiness take away from it being a tense piece of knowingly lurid entertainment.

At this point, Soavi was still too indebted to the style of Argento to make much of an impact. That being said, this could still have been a somewhat enjoyable post-giallo if not for a soundmix that is all over the fucking place, with nearly inaudible dialogue mixed in with earsplitting, hideous 80ies synth music.

The usual. Enclosed location, killable noncharacters, masked killer, etc. only this time it's a theater and the killer wears a bird mask. I saw this with a friend of mine who dubbed it "carnography"

Good & very stylish slasher from Dario Argento's protegee Michele Soavi, who has also directed "Dellamorte Dellamore" (Cemetery Man in the US) which Scorsese called one of the best movies of the 90s. Has a serial killer who wears a costume head of giant owl.
