A good expansion of the franchise, and the first contact mentioned in the title made me very emotional. The Borg are excellently creepy, and Picard is always wonderful to watch.

Aside from "Let's Do The Time Plot Agaaaaaiiiiiiinnnnn" driving the screenwriting, this is one of the few Star Trek films I genuinely enjoy. Then again, I do find most of Alice Krige's acting work highly entertaining.

The Next Generation crew have their last (and most dramatic) outing in this time travellling, borg-chasing hoo-ha of a film. The Borg have created a time machine to go back in time to the inception of warp drive in the wake of the Third World War in 2068 so they can stop the creator and enslave the human race. Pretty far-fetched, but it's a thrilling yarn with a few humourous parts and plenty of action, however there are some parts that will leave you cringing.
