Summary: Will Ferrell plays Harold Crick, an IRS Agent whose world is turned upside-down when he begins to hear his life being chronicled by a narrator only he can hear. The Narrator, Kay Eiffel (Emma Thompson), a nearly forgotten author of tragic novels, is struggling to complete her latest and best book, unaware that her protagonist is alive and uncontrollably guided by her words. Fiction and reality collide when the bewildered and hilariously resistant Harold hears the Narrator say that events have been set in motion that will lead to his imminent death. (Sony)

The post-modernist viewpoint is a little too arch, Will Ferrell fails to impress in his most ambitious attempt at serious acting, and the resolution of the plot just isn't convincing because somebody involved--writers or producers--lacked courage.

Fantastic piece of filmmaking. Not the Will Ferrel we always see, but he's still funny in a film that actually says some things. Maybe my favorite comedy ever.

I was very skeptical about seeing this movie at first, because I was expecting the same character that Will Ferrell plays in every movie. Here, though, as a lonely IRS auditor he actually acts and gives a wonderful performance with the help of a strong supporting cast. A very original movie, it is at times quite humorous and at times deeply moving. If only Will Ferrell would act more often...

This movie, is, amazing. I absolutly love the story line. It's just fascinating, and amazing. I highly suggest anybody to watch this movie, it has to be one of the most unique movies I've seen.

An odd little film in the spirit of Charlie Kaufman. Quirky, fun, and at times touching. A must see for Will Ferells surprisingly spot on performance.

A really great idea to let author and protagonist get in contact. This movie is a treat for all fand of literature theory and literature in general. I was really astounded by Will Ferrell's performance and Emma Thompson was just amazing. I also get to notice Maggie Gyllenhaal more and more positively. The only mediocre performance but depending on that mediocre part is Queen Latifah's.
