Truflaði mig þó hvernig "voice of god" tækni brá fyrir í fyrri hluta myndarinnar á ómarkvissan máta.

This is one STYLISH documentary about graffiti! I won't go to WAR to defend it, but it's very informative!

A fine documentary piece about the blossoming graffiti culture in New York in the early 80's. It raises a lot of questions. Art or vandalism? Art or simply graphic design? Does hanging it in a gallery legitimize it, or does it get robbed of something vital to the artform? And the conflicts with the authorities, the public, and the devious villain Cap give the story some drama. The uptight-white-guy narration sounds dated (and hilarious) but otherwise a solid and thought-provoking work.

I could watch an endless loop of NYC footage from the late 70s through the early 80s and never grow tired of it. I eat that stuff up. Tight and economical doc that delivered a lot of great little slices of life from the burgeoning rap and hip hop scene. Seen, Dez and Cap are all breakout stars here, but from the moment he takes the screen, Kase 2 owns this thing. How ahead of his time was this guy?!? Insanely talented and with a mouth to back it up, I found him off-the-charts charismatic.

A great look at early hip hop culture, from back when it was still young. The documentary looks at all 4 elements of hip hop from a non-historical perspective., though it mainly focuses on graffiti. An excellent way to learn about the style wars within the hip hop culture, as well as the roots of modern hip hop culture.
