Intriguing throughout with an astounding performance from Swanson as Norma Desmond, whose descent into narcissistic madness is both pitiful and disgusting. Holden and Olson's truncated romance was poignant, but appropriately overshadowed by Desmond's star, and its untarnished reflection in the eyes of von Stroheim's Max. I found it fascinating that the two main perspectives highlight for the audience how tragically unjust the world can seem, regardless of whether you've succeeded or failed.

One of those all time greats that just doesn't totally work for me. Has a really cold and dry feel to it, and I really wasn't moved that much. I believe it's very well done and intelligent, but just didn't like it on a personal level.
