Summary: The Sun is being destroyed from inside out by a type of highly stable form of matter that renders nuclear fusion impossible, by turning common matter on its own kind. The only hope is to send a team of astronauts to detonate a massive, highly energetic bomb, able to destroy this strange matter and restore Sun's natural state. (imdb)

A bit too weird for me I think. In some parts it seemed to be being weird for weirdnesses sake. Good film, bit slow and could have used some more character stuff at the start. Maybe begining a bit further from the craziness so you cared more about the characters. I also found myself picking huge holes as this film has a somewhat swiss cheese element if your looking for that. Not bad though, but don't go expecting full on action or anything

The film starts very well as a psychological thriller but the action sequence in the end ruins it a bit. Visual part is excellent and feeling is impressively pressing most of the time.

Could be better, but cool movie nevertheless. My main complaint is the editing in the end, with too much sound and visual effects, that seemed to be there, just for the sake of it.

This flick has a tonal shift in the third act that's kind of bizarre, like Boyle got bored with the film he was making and then decided to veer off into something else. But for an hour and ten minutes, this is a hell of a film, beautiful and riveting, despite the questionable science at play, and is still worth watching despite the third-act crazies.

It all looks very pretty and most of the time it is entertaining, but the story is formulaic and the last third or so of the film seems unbelievable and underdeveloped.

It's undoubtedly a great premise, but by the end Sunshine leaves you feeling empty. Underneath the spectacular imagery and imagination of such a voyage and the possible corruption the sun might impsose upon those seemingly hypnotized and infatuated by its beauty there is something missing. When viewed for what it's worth it lacks depth and doesn't come together as well as it rightly should. I might possibly be being a little harsh, but I feel that Sunshine doesn't really deserve a higher score.

The sporadic moments of Fountain-esque awe within this mess aren't enough to save it. The first hour is a solid sci-fi genre piece, mostly formulaic but with a touch of extra intensity and complexity forced on it by the sheer weight of their task. Then there's an awkward transition into claustrophobic horror which really spoils it; at least the initial premise was only semi-ridiculous.

I'm usually really bored while watching sci-fi movies, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat. The Visuals were absolute quality. The last part didn't bother me at all, it was nice to have something surprising and bizarre happening. A lot of the story was nothing special, but Danny Boyle and the actors really made it into a great piece to watch.

Very good sci-fi. Cillian Murphy does a very good job in his second Boyle film but the real star in this movie is... well it's the Sun. But it's also the incredibly lonesome atmosphere that follows the film. You can never shake the feeling that everyone on that ship is millions and millions of miles from home.

Utterly retarded. It's sometimes visually pretty, but everything else is absolutely stupid. And it takes itself seriously, too! It's kinda like The Core in space.

Fine cast, hokey but effective plot, manages to keep you on the edge of your seat even when nothing is happening. But it gets even stupider as it goes on, and half the time I couldn't figure out who was doing what to whom, and so while the first hour sped by, the second hour felt like three.

I really wanted to like this, and I definitely have a soft spot for sci-fi. By the end, I felt like the screenwriter was just a sadist and this might as well be Final Destination 9: In Space. The story leaps out into the Land of No Logic at the end, and not even in a metaphorical 2001-type way, as far as I could tell. Maybe I didn't get it, or maybe it's that the advertising resembled the summary on this page, rather than "people die horribly for 90 minutes."
