A really nice and feel good movie overall. But the side story about Rajskub's character was just left at what it was, which could have been a much better side story..

Amy Adams is reasonably charming here but everything is just so conventional that it's like watching film school ad libs. Even though i'm a sucker for morbid films about the corpse business it doesn't have anywhere near the depth or wit of let's say "Okuribito" or even "Six Feet Under." All in all not a bad piece of fluff but it isn't remotely memorable. The drama is laid on a bit thick too when they should have let people figure out a lot of the underlying emotional subtext themselves.

I'll agree with the sentiments said over and over again about this film. It's plain. It's well-acted, and has a good story, but it's like watching a few episodes of an above-average basic cable reality show about someone with a unique job, and accomplishes about the same amount as those shows do.

Decent for an indie flick, and one that deserves the ubiquitous 70 range, unlike most films that are put here. I actually enjoyed that the sisters had their own stories, and that they were allowed to be characters in their own right without the usual female-in-distress cliches that can crop up.

A role fit for Amy Adams. Alan Arkin also does an admirable job in the film as well. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this movie, but I think that it affected me the way it was supposed to, so I would label this film a success.

Wonderfully eccentric comedy, which successfully navigates a tricky balance between light humour and the vivid reality of the story. Aided by a well-chosen cast, with Adams and Blunt delightful at the forefront, and Arkin stealing all his scenes as their flaky father. Collins jr. also figures in a prominent sub-plot. If the screenplay occasionally meanders, and seems a little cluttered at times, it contains enough honest humour (and genuinely moving moments) to make it a memorable experience.
