A weak story and uninteresting villain treatment don't help, but what really lets Brainiac Attacks down is the usual Superman Paradox: the character is too wholesome to be interesting, and too flawless to warrant any investment. Instead, the audience is left with a caricature Luthor to focus on, and so the whole thing feels decidedly flat and lifeless.
