A nation with such lofty ambitions as liberty and justice for all is bound to fall short of them, but there is nobility in trying to uphold them in the face of overwhelming cynicism, and I think that's something America does well: it makes us believe in the dream, even when all evidence points away from it. A film like this cannot change what's broken in the political process, but I think it can call our attention to what's wrong with our own thinking and ask us what we are going to do about it.

started really well, the first 1.5h were entertaining and everything, but the end destroyed it all, why not make the movie 10minutes longer and show all the stuff thats fucked up in america ? you cant make a box-office wonder like that anyway, why not have more of a message or someone pointing out what kinda puppet the US president is

Has a few good points, but this is mostly another one of Costner's modern, "Hey, I used to be a good actor!" kind of films.

It has some burps and blips, but if you take it as it is, you should find this to be a pretty fun, observational satire of our times... With a touch of Everyman statement, to take away, too... If you're a Costner fan, (I am), you'll especially enjoy it...

It can't decide whether it's a straight satire or some kind of message movie, and the kid is so precocious they should put her in the dictionary of movie cliches, but the political ads are so hilarious it makes up for some of the flat notes.

I am giving this movie a high score because it was a surprising commentary on the state of citizens and voting in the US. Lots of funny political references. Not the best Costner performance, but I enjoyed the film as a whole.

Despite the irony of the buttload of liberals (who are associated with this movie) trying to lecture the audience of the importance of making informed decisions when voting, "Swing Vote" is a perfectly enjoyable flick.

Costner can't quite get a handle on how his character's charm should be balanced against his more problematic behavior. It's mostly due to the tepid script, though. The raw material is there to tackle the perpetually compromised nature of our electoral process head-on, and Stern surprisingly manages to make his credibility-straining premise reasonably believable. He veers towards some of the hot-button issues of the day, but delivers only glancing blows.

I liked it most of the way through, the main character was a little unbelievably lazy at a few moments, but I enjoyed the presidential pandering and the compromised campaigning. I really would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if he had spent his vote on an independent candidate and left the election in the lurch.

This film's concept is terrifyingly stupid, and while I appreciate that it is poking fun at career politicians, the manner in which it executes its comedy is atrociously unappealing.
