Summary: Old Jakubek is a celebrated military officer who wants to die so he can be reunited with his great love, but before he can rest he must fulfill the local tradition of passing his saber to his grandson. Unfortunately, Jakubek has no grandson, as his son is unmarried and there are few prospects for marriage.
