Caught it on television and decided to watch it. The story is weak and predictable, the characters not so interesting, but for some reason unbeknownst to me, I didn't hate it.

Totally incredible story about meeting of two so exceptionally different cultures. It's even a hard time to see anything through a cloud of hormones (since it is a movie about high school and dancing) but maybe it's one of those good clouds while there is not much to see. Everyone is dancing with everyone!

Typical cheesy story of a teacher coming in to a school to inspire all the kids and help them do the hugely improbable. In real life Antonio Banderas would have been destroyed by those kids in no time flat, and it's impressive how little the film knows about dancing, how absurd the plot is and quite how unfunny the humour is. Still I guess the dancing itself is kind of amusing, and it's not like the film is particularly annoying or anything, just not that good. I watched this against my will...

Good film. True a little predictable but inspiring none the less. At the films end you want to go and do something. Maybe not teach latin dance to innercity youth but you want to do something. Good film

If you need to see this kind of film done with some kind of integrity, it's far better to rent the documentary, Mad Hot Ballroom, and avoid this artificial, predictable claptrap altogether, unless you're one that is moved more by music video montages and hot dance tunes than in quality characterizations or a belief in the story itself as being something that could presumably happen. Augh, I'm tired of this teacher in a rough neighbourhood pouring his heart out and teaching slumber kids some real lessons shit. If Antonio Banderas stepped into the Bronx to give Salsa lessons to modern day teenagers they would rip his guts out.
