Right from the very beginning Woody was making hysterical movies, this one being a mockumentary about a terrible bank robber. Because this is early period WA, there are a lot of great physical gags, like the constantly smashed glasses. However, there's also a lot of hilarious dialogue, like the robbery note gone wrong. It's a funny movie and while it does jump all over, even going into some Cool Hand Luke parody thing, I still loved it. "Nobody wears beige to a bank robbery!"

Very uneven with sections that drag pretty badly, but it's fun for Woody completists.

Woody Allen's "Take the Money and Run" was clearly ahead of its time. 40 years later the movie seems to have more relevance today, with its broad dry wit, and documentary style filmmaking approach. Fans of "The Office" would love this, and so they should. The movie is quietly, sharply funny. The visual gags, satire, and dialogue make for one truly unique package that serves Woody Allen, as star/writer/director, in the best possible sense.

Very funny, even with the occasional inconsistencies. Lots of scattered gags and references too.

Funny at times, at others a drag.. Like a very dry slow version of the Naked Gun series or Airplane! both of which I'm not too keen on. At least there wasn't any of the slapstick shtick.

It has some funny parts, but I'd be willing to believe time has robbed this movie of what was probably a lot of original ideas. Because of that it's kind of slow and I've seen almost everything before.

As far as comedies go, this is one of the best I've ever seen -- I laughed out loud a bunch of times, a sign for me that a comedy is working. Of course, if you're not a fan of Woody Allen's 'shtick,' then you prob won't like the jokes and gags. Me, I'm a fan, so this movie did not disappoint.

Tries so hard, fails so hard. There are perhaps two chuckle-worthy gags in the whole thing; the rest is just a boring waste of time.

I'm not too fond of the early Woody films in which the jokes often seem a bit contrived. This film is okay but still one of the liter Woody films.

Well it's Allen's first proper film and honestly he does a pretty poor job at directing. At times the film's hilarious and then again some moments are just awkward, it feels too long and it's barely 80-minutes long; I'd only recommend this to die-hard Woody fans.
