Cheap, and sort of derivative. I did like the stories with David Alan Grier and Corbin Bernsen, and I liked the music enough to buy the soundtrack CD back in High School. Overall, the quality's about even with that Tales from the Crypt show from the 90's. So, if you were a fan of that, try this.

Think of it as a racially charged version of tales from the crypt. All of the stories in this anthology are very much race focused, and I think that worked for this film. Recommended only for big anthology horror fans, and I suppose for fans of race focused films, as well.

David Alan Grier is amazing in what may be his only non-comedic, non-leading-man role ever. The rest of this movie, not so much.

Blatant ripoff of the 1972 _Tales from the Crypt_, right down to outright stealing the Peter Cushing story and the framing story

Generally, I'm a big Rusty Cundieff fan, but Fear of a Black Hat this movie is not. This is one of those, "Why was this made?" films. Horror doesn't need an racial or ethnic angle to appeal to the masses. I didn't see the ACLU protesting the poor representation of African-American filmmakers in B-Grade horror, and this film is now the official reason why we will never see it. Oh...actually...this and Bones.

Very cheesy, but I'm a sucker for anything Tales from the Crypt and this is essentially Tales from the Crypt with an urban spin.
