The Hammer studio definitely amped up the violence and sexuality in this installment, but that didn't do much to make it a better movie. The story is decent, if a bit familiar. Christopher Lee does his thing like he always does, and the direction is competent but nothing amazing. Overall, just kind of blah. Nothing great, nothing horrible.

The first half of this movie is good and entertaining.About midway through though I felt this film was just spinning it's wheels and it became boring.Christopher Lee has almost no screen time and what he does have is not that good.The acting by the rest of the cast is good.

Good direction and an unusually strong subplot (involving moral hypocrisy and the sexual suppression of the young) make this a better than usual Hammer series entry, though the main plot makes little sense because Bates *had* to die to resurrect Dracula in the first place -- so why bother with revenge?
