Summary: In the near future the two spaceships Argos and Galliot are sent to investigate the mysterious planet Aura. As the Galliot lands on the planet her crew suddenly go berserk and attack each other. The strange event passes, but the crew soon discovers the crashed Argos - and learns that her crew died fighting each other! Investigating further, the explorers come to realize the existence of a race of bodiless aliens that seek to escape from their dying world. (imdb)

Lame (English) title, but some amazing sets (and colors!). Very atmospheric (indeed downright foggy at times). Nicely unconventional resolution, although it's a bit dampered by the hokey final twist. Oh yeah, and I wish these guys would read at least one astronomy book...

It seems strange that no one thought to mix traditional horror and sci-fi before this film. Not a great film, it's a B-Movie from the mid-1960's and never let's you forget that. However, it is very beautiful with all its prepsychedelic secondary colors and high fashion fetishism, and its influence on the next generation of genre filmmakers wasn't for no reason, even if it was only for the vague but novel "haunted house... in SPACE" idea.

So far, Mario Bava's films haven't exactly hooked me, perhaps because the plot content is generally pretty shallow, but man, are they a joy to watch. Here, once again, there's a slew of slick costumes and sets. The art direction is magnificently pulpy, from a giant alien skeleton to that great, Forbidden Planet-like ship. It worked quite well in the childlike-awe department.
