Such a waste of talent. Everything about this felt forced.

It's great-looking, and atmospheric as hell--chirping bugs, overcast Texas skies, a vivid evocation of dead town working-class squalor--and Worthington's as alive as I've ever seen him. But the story's plainly horrendous. Pointless, trite sub-Wambaugh 1970's TV cop movie fare. Generally contrived and definitely inessential.

Tried to watch it twice, first time I switched it off half way. Second time still couldn't engage me. Boring stuff

Decent performances from just about everyone (although Worthington's accent was nowhere near perfect), the pacing is good for the most part, but the rushed ending deflated my final score.

Ami clearly imitates her father, the great Michael Mann, and she actually does a good job in the second half, in that foggy climax, but the film suffers from underdeveloped characters and lack of substance right in the beginning. When it ends, I had the sensation that I wasn't aware of what those bad folks were standing for or even the crimes they committed.

Feels like a run-of-the-mill Showtime or AMC cop drama. Average story, decent acting, gritty feel...but the characters are under-developed and the story-telling is erratic. The sub-plots fizzle out, and the climax is...well...anti-climactic. Not terrible, but remarkably forgettable. Tier 5 material, all the way.
