Great police procedural, err, kung fu film. It has too much going on in places but the fights are novel and brilliantly executed.

The fights are very enjoyable; there's just too many scenes of Not Fighting. Still, it's only 90 minutes so it's hardly a drag. I just wish the plot, which has a creative premise, was more tightly executed and the fights given more focus.

The action on this is off the charts, the Snake is to be feared, and he shows why in the last fight scene.

A very good premise, especially since kung fu films have such familiar and repetitive narratives. The pacing gets a little slow at times, but it's always interesting. The fighting is fun, and the villains are deliciously ruthless.

It's hard not to admire the fight sequences in this classic Hong Kong martial arts mystery: Aside from the leaps and jumps that function as segues to the next fighting set-piece, it's all mostly shot in longer takes with fewer cuts than modern audiences are used to seeing. And the special effects are mostly slo-mo and wires. Pretty cool. Sure, it's hokey, low-budget (bad fake beards and fake blood) and confusing in terms of narrative, but it's also a lot of fun.

Your iron skin is finished. Ahh, if only I'd seen a version of the film without the repulsive dubbing.

Sometimes drags, and my print was terrible (stupid dubbing!) but the final fight is utterly amazing.

Classic kung fu movie with an awesome set up, even if the story gets a little convoluted along the way. A great cast performing superb martial arts action, the perfect flick for a Saturday afternoon.

Plot is pretty cool. Death scenes are novel and disturbing. Stunt work is above average for the time. The print is always terrible, no matter which version you find. The English dub is also ass, but the cool parts were sampled (often) by The Wu-Tang Clan. Overall, I'd say it's essential if you have the stomach for 70's kung-fu flicks.

Very enjoyable in its consistent and confident artificiality; everything here seems so unnatural - everything from the (fake) beards to the sound effects are hilariously immoderate - and this certainly adds to the experience more than it decreases it. This odd extravaganza, with its lively fight scenes accompanied by wild sounds effects and gorgeous '70s-blood, sure manage to delight. It has a comic book-vibe all of its own.
