Sometimes the premise of a movie is just too mind-numbingly stupid to get past--such is the case with this movie which is about a bunch of guys who roam the earth wearing magic hats (really) and carrying iPad's that have "God's plan" that they have to somehow help carry out or something equally dumb. No idea why God needs help from Roger Sterling to carry out his "plan" for him. This inanity is made worse by the shoehorning of a boring love story into it which I found impossible to care about.

Not knowing what story I was going into, this movie surprised positively quite a bit. It kept me intrigued about what would happen next, especially in the first half where the universe of the movie slowly unravel itself. Do not scare off by the 'Romance' tag. Yes it is in essence a romance, but it kept on the down low and simply use as seed for a drama/thriller story.

Interesting premise, then again the context "Hollywood" automatically gives this bonus points as you wouldn't expect anything coming from there to be exploring determinism. Turns out this doesn't either, as science has to give way to intelligent design and how this works out for humans, giving them both direction according to a divine plan, itself perhaps giving some meaning to many humans, but also a certain amount of free will within this grand narrative. Also too much running.

Pretty good concept. I am afraid it's way poorer the the book but the script looks solid with some occasional silly moments. The Bureau is also sustained by good chemistry between and Damon and Blunt and their mutual delightful performance. I really hoped there will something similar to Bourne ride. All in all, it is worth watching.

This movie is a lot better if you don't think about it. Damon & Mackie do good jobs of moving it along and not giving you a meaningful opportunity to think about it, but if find yourself a moment the thread will start to unravel.

The premise of this film is exactly the kind I enjoy a lot, but Nolfi had no reason to turn it into a bland Hollywood romance schlock. Actually, the more I think about this film, the less I like it. Hats? Are you fucking kidding me? Emily Blunt is pretty, not that much of an actress though.

Watchable and interesting for a while, but the Hollywoodized narrative gradually de-emphasizes the paranoia in favour of ho-hum romance/theology. This problem is especially acute for the underwhelming and hokey conclusion, which is at least kept very brief, as though the producers were aware the ending was less than satisfactory but felt they had little alternative (or realised, in other words, that any free will they may have counted on in relation to ending the movie was largely illusory).

Sheep in wolf's clothes, basically. It's a standard star-crossed lovers romantic story disguised as sci-fi thriller. The perfect date-movie in other words. The premise is great and the craftsmanship is solid but the movie never really rises above mediocrity. The result is an enjoyable popcorn flick that will have you think "Must read more Philip K. Dick short stories." Other highlights: a young Morgan Freeman in a supporting role and the showcasing of the incompetence of bureaucrats.
