This promised a lot and delivered little, other than the versatile Pearce. I don't have a lot of experience of Stamp but his was a truly appalling wooden performance that dragged this down. If this was an opportunity to expose homophobic bigotry the message gets negated by some clumsy choices. The highly embarassing aborigine scene for example. Of course there are no homophobic aborigines, whereas all non-indiginous folk all hate gays. Do me a favour...my advice is to leave this one in the box.

Ok, so really, not a *good* movie, but that's kind of the point. It knows exactly what it is, and it does what it is well. Well acted, witty, and more camp than a row of tents.

For being "professional" performers, they were some pretty poor dancers.

I liked it because it wasn't brilliant. It was simple and bitter, and somehow terned glamourousby exposing the non-glamourous side of freakiness and being a loud-outsider.

Watching this makes me feel like being straight, and then artificially becoming gay because its fabulous.

wow. im amazed by this movie. never thought that Id see terence stamp acting like a drag queen, let alone guy pearce and hugo weaving. what a feat, all these guys are massive personalities these days. good stuff.
