Corny, but not nearly as corny as the later low-budget efforts. Rathbone is ideal, Ida Lupino is lovely, and George Zucco is a fine Moriarty.

High budget from Fox gives Rathbone the platform he deserves. Also excellent is Zucco as the calculating Moriarty. A good scheme which makes for an enjoyable mystery.

Classic crime film.

Better than the other Rathbone films in that the mystery is quite solid and the film carries it's suspense relatively well. IT's a little silly at times but that's part of the charm and it doesn't get too distracting.

Rather convoluted mystery, with early exposition scenes that undercut the intrigue. The banter is not on the same level as in 'Hound', but Rathbone is still enjoyable enough to make it very watchable, except that undercover routine which was annoying (although partly intentionally).

One of the best Rathbone/Bruce Holmes movies. Watson is still a moron, but other than that it was well done, lots of suspense and an intricate mystery. I think they give away too much at the beginning, however.
