Has its charms in its first half as a silly, goofy costumer, but loses its way in its attempts to portray Swank's character as a tragic figure. Marked by opulent production design, and a cast that knows (in the first half) how to have fun, with Pryce and (surprisingly) Baker standing out as the odious Cardinal and foppish gigolo respectively. Swank is good, but saddled with an inappropriate characterisation, and Walken is fun in an all-too-brief cameo. Not bad, but could have been better.

I've seen this, but have only the slightest recollection of it... I have a vague remeberance that I felt Hillary Swank was out of her element... Criticker is saying my PSI would be a 39. I'm goin' with that...
