A screw-on head (with a servant called Mr. Groin) working as a secret agent under Abe Lincoln, fighting Emperor Zombie, gun-toting monkeys and a demigod? Why this wasn't made into a series is beyond me. This is by far the freshest and most interesting piece of western animation I've seen in a very long time. And the funniest take on American history I can think of.

Good voice cast and intriguing general premise make up for less than stellar animation.

A very clever cartoon with Mike Mignola's signature art style. It's a shame this short episode is all that was ever produced, but I imagine that voice cast would get fairly expensive if retained for a series.

This would've made a great show. If nothing else it just shows how inept the people at sci-fi really are. You don't pick this up yet you pick up outer space astronauts? wtf...

Decent and interesting for a pilot, but nowhere near as good as the ratings on here would have you believe. A lot of weak jokes and a lack of imagination in the plot is interspersed with some interesting characters and light chuckles. -3 points for painfully stupid ending that makes no sense, historically or logically.

I consider the fact that this didn't get picked up as a series one of the great crimes against television of the 21st century. It's creative, has a great art style, is funny, and the cast is top-notch. I guess the people at Sci-Fi just wanted more movies about a shitty CGI monster.

This pilot had a some funny jokes (monkeys with guns goes a long way), but for some reason - maybe the way it was drawn - it kept reminding me of the stuff that children watch on sunday mornings.

A real funny short movie with some good gags and strange characters. The trash- Style reminds a little bit on Ed Wood.

A very fun and well done animated comic book movie.

Doesn't surprise me that this didn't get picked up as a series, but it's thoroughly enjoyable. This is probably the best animation I've seen on TV (but then again, I don't watch a lot of it). It's fantastic. Good animation, great humor, just great.

The Amazing Screw-On Head is, well, amazing. The closest we've yet (and may ever) come to a literal print-to-screen Mignola adaptation, this pilot captures everything you expect from the man: a unique art style; wit and humour; a love of history, supernatural civil servants, Abe Lincoln and gun-toting monkeys. The characters all have great names, and DHP's voice-work as Emperor Zombie is hilarious. Sets a high standard for the Hellboy: Animated films to match. This would be a great series.

4/9/9 - Silly, very silly. But funny, inventive and clever. A few laugh out loud moments. Worth getting a decent version, rather than the google video.

This is so terribly Mike Mignola. Sad that it never got picked up.

Much of the silliness sort of flew by me at first, but it did get more amusing later on.
