Twisted into a cautionary tale of preserving the biodiversity of the sea for future generations, this remake is not a patch on the original bleak story.

It's a good take on a fairly unfilmable story, and the additional plot twists fit nicely into the existing narrative, but this is ultimately too long and suffers from an extreme case of 'Why should I care?'. The Andromeda threat never feels real enough to panic anyone, and so Bratt's overstoic acting style serves as a benchmark for the audience's expectations: if he's never excited, why should we be?

There's no shortage of scientific mumbo jumbo (for those who enjoy that sort of thing) in this overlong and rather talky television remake.

This plot was just dumb. The first half was ok. The second was retarded.

This new version's biggest fault is that it's just a little too ambitious--it's the original movie with 65 subplots tacked on. The scene of everyone going nuts in the small town is very effective though. Worth a look.

i have watched the original many times. on this one i fell asleep. twice. then i zapped to "superman returns" and woke up nicely.

Slightly preposterous but enjoyable!

What a promising opening. Knowing nothing about the original and novel whole town scene was a cliffhanger enough for me. Scientific chatter is on the right dose. From then on Andromeda Strain goes blunt every minute. With cheesy side characters (especially the media man) and not even cliche ridden plot this is a wasted effort.

The first part of this gave me hope that it would be enjoyable, but the second half erased all of that.

Decently done, especially for a remake, but ultimately predictable all the way through. Better than most made for TV sci-fi movies, though.

Unexpectedly very good sci-fi thriller. Slightly upgraded original novel (mainly the second part). The better half of TV production nowadays.

I wanted to see the original 1971 version first, but now I'm doubting am I interested to see it at all...

It's truly sad when Eric McCormack can steal the show. One flying flipping severed thumb up!
