Scorsese continues to suffer from a form of elephantiasis, compounded by a touch of Oscaritis: a pushing-three-hours epic on the tumultuous career of Howard Hughes (the eternally boyish DiCaprio, deficient in gravitas even with the added mustache midway through). It offers little insight into the man (the best you can say of the prologue, in which his mother terrorizes him with the threat of cholera and typhus, is that it's brief), yet it offers plenty of random, rambling, gossipy entertainment

Leo has been ignored by hollywood since the beginning, what the hell did he do to deserve the snuff? Doesn't matter. It's performances like this that will keep him at the top of my list!

The whole is less than the parts here, but some of the parts are so good that I have to call this a good film. Fine acting by DeCaprio and Blanchett, but Hughes remains just as much a mystery after the film as before. Although it works in "Lawrence of Arabia," it doesn't work here.

Dicaprio doesnt resemble Hughes in anyway but still his performance of the germophobe was brilliant, he played the bright and lows of Howard Hughes and should have won an oscar.
